Competitor Support
Many excellent groups and competitors struggle to reach Llangollen to take part in the Eisteddfod. Their presence would both add to the musical and artistic quality of the festival and enhance the colour and vibrancy of the experience for all of our visitors.
Perhaps the least significant element of the cost of coming to Llangollen is the price of accommodation. This is subsidised by the Eisteddfod, and a substantial bursary fund is used to further reduce the impact of this expense for the most needy groups. However, most competitors face far more substantial costs. For example, many must pay visa costs approaching £100 per head, and, of course, the price of international travel is very significant.
In order to help bring groups to the Eisteddfod, individuals and companies can make donations to the ‘Llangollen Gift to the World’ Scheme. The scheme, launched at the 2011 Eisteddfod, allows a donor to see where a specific amount of money would be targeted.
